What are hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in your rectum or anus. They can be internal or external depending on where they occur.2
Internal hemorrhoids often donít cause any pain.2 Because this type of hemorrhoid usually stays inside, you may have a feeling of fullness in your rectum after a bowel movement.3
External hemorrhoids are swellings on the outside of your rectum and can be quite painful.3
Most hemorrhoid sufferers experience little or no pain.1
